Objectives By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. identify the setting, participants and the topic of a conversation about the social media for class forums. (Preparations for the tests and some club activities)(Cognition) 2. identify specific information by scanning a conversation about the social media for class forums. (Preparations for the tests and some club activities) (Skills – Reading & Listening) 3. use words and phrases related to the topic teenagers in context. (Cognition) 4 discuss different questions about teenagers ( types of social media, the pressure and club activities. LEARNING EXPERIENCE Activity 1: Listening & Reading - Write the unit title Teenagers on the board. - Ask students to guess what they are going to learn in this unit. - Elicit the answers from students. Encourage them to talk about using of social medial of Teenagers and their stress - Have students look at the situation picture on page 28 & 29 in the textbook - Tieng Anh 8 - Ask them the following questions about the picture and confirm the correct answers. 1. Who are they? They’re teacher, Minh and Ann 2. Where are they? In the classroom. 4. What are they talking about? They’re talking abou Teen school clubs, Teen’s use of social media and Teen stress. - Play the recording twice for students to listen and read along. - Have students underline the words that are related to the topic of the unit while they are listening and reading. - Call on some groups of students to read the conversation aloud. - Ask students what exactly Teacher, Minh and Ann are talking about. - Elicit students’ answers and give constructive feedback. Activity 2: Reading Exercise 2: Read the conversation again and write T (True) or F (False). - Ask students to read the statements carefully, underline the key words, locate the information, write True or False. - Have students compare their answers with their partners. - Elicit students’ answers and give constructive feedback. Why do you choose to participate in that club Activity 5: Wrap–up and Assignments - Ask students to answer the following question. 1. What did you learn from the lesson today? (Identify the setting, participants and the topic of the conversation. Identify the specific information of the conversation; Use the words in context; discuss about social media, pressure and club) 2. What are the core values of the lesson? (Show their positive attitude toward teen responsibility) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (A Close Look 1 on page 30).
